Inventor, author, retired wholesaler of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, and manufacturer of funeral supplies
Burt Firtel, age 85, graduated Boston University in 1961. After getting married, he began his career as a sales representative with Sandoz Pharmaceuticals (now Novartis Pharmaceuticals). In the 70's, he started his own specialty pharmaceutical wholesale and medical supply company. A few years later he purchased a contract funeral supply manufacurer. Burt's wife of 47 years Norma, died in 2008. In 2012, he sold his home, business and warehouse in Connecticut and became a Floridian. 2 1/2 years ago, Burt founded B.F. Alert Systems, and has a patent pending on "Remember2" an app for seniors with or without mild cognitive impairment. The App reminds them to take medication, drink water, go to doctor appointments and run errands. It also helps prevent hospitalization from falls or dehydration.
Burt, has owned harness race horses for 50 years. At age 82, he wrote The Legend of the Cap, a fictional history, mystery and fantasy of golf. Burt’s vision for Remember2 was forged from his own life’s experience of needing to remember important tasks and needing support, as he has personally fallen three times in a 5 month period. Remember2 will help seniors like Burt to stay safe, stay connected and live independently.
